This body of work draws on the imperative of care discussed in ecofeminist theory. Here I am exploring an interest in the actions of care as material waste management strategy.

I began by collecting discarded materials found within walking distance of Pop Gallery, and then employed actions kin to ritual, crafting the works by sanding, washing, repair, gilding and sealing. While making these works I noted that caring for the materials in these ways helped to create an affectionate bond with them.

The materials found offer a description of the local social/cultural landscape through the lens of collected waste. I am interested in how this reflects the impacts of human activity on the ‘Natural’ world.

Available for collection at the closing event on November 12. Other times and shipping is available, please contact Kirralee to discuss.
